Kristy Gonyer portrait

As a lifelong lover of learning, I am happiest when my life is full of interesting projects and learning opportunites.

During the day, my professional career for the past 10+ years has taken place in education at levels pre-K through higher education. My LinkedIn profile provides a detailed list my of professional experiences.

By night (and weekend), you will often find me in a community meeting, working on projects with neighbors, hiking, running, backpacking, or gardening. And when it is time to rest and recharge you will probably find me curled up with a warm cup of tea and a book.

I’ve turned much of my attention toward issues such as local and food sovereignty advocacy, and guiding people to re-remember their relationship with the more than human world. For the past several years this has meant a lot of time with my hands in the soil, working, teaching, and coordinating for community gardening and orchard projects, teaching cooking classes, taking my own first steps into the farming world, and most recently beginning work as a Forest Therapy Guide.

Forest Therapy

I am currently in the process of becoming a ANFT certified forest guide where I am learning how to help people re-remember their connection with the more than human world through forest therapy walks. Sign up her to join a forest therapy walk!

Toad Hollow Farm

After 7 years of dreaming with my husband Nathan, our dreams began to come true when we purchased a small piece of land in the Black Hills of South Dakota (about an hour from our original hometown of Hill City, SD) in 2016. Now the real works begins as we work to develop it into a working permaculture farm and education site.

Ecovillage Life

For nearly a decade, I have been lucky enough to call Kailash Ecovillage my home. At the ecovillage we help to lead the community’s community gardening group and fruit tree care teams.
